Rose: No John, No! I can’t have it
John: It won’t last long and trust me, am good
Rose: Its not all about being good. Sex is a responsibility
John:(Angrily) what did you say? Stop talking like a small girl that’s naïve
Rose: You too stop being sentimental about things especially sex
John: (holding her hand) listen, I love you
Rose: If you love me, be patient
John: Till when? But if I do it with another person, you’ll say am cheating
Rose: (holding his handy)kay, am not getting HIV right?
John: No! You know we can use condom
Rose: Where do we do it then? Classroom, lecturer’s office, where?
John: Let’s go to an hotel
Rose: Wow!(Laughing) if you love me, let’s do it in your house
John: No my parents
Rose: So you are not ready then.
John: Am ready, you know this is a weakness for people like me
Rose: Like who?
John: Boys in their parents house
John: Please I’ll be careful and fast
Rose: My problem is not you, the time, the pattern or whatever- the issue is am worth more than some minutes and you not being able to take me to your parents says you are ashamed of me. I want to have sex and not be scared when my parents come in. Am not asking you for marriage but are you ashamed to be seen with me?
John: No but you know people attach so much to relationships
Rose: Did you listen to people to get involved with me?
John: No way
Rose: Then why are you referring to people on issues that concern you and I? We best not be in a relationship. I want to have sex not just for pleasure but in full measure and I don’t want people to be involved. I am going for a breast cancer check up now- that is another issue people like me should not shy away from
(Rose leaves the stage and John is not happy but he leaves in a thinking mood)
