Mini Drama Series (Bianca By Keni Ogunlola)

When we watch interesting series over and over, it is because it has became too long for a movie and too short for a season; It has been divided into certain slots for viewers who must understand its suspense, understand the richness of shots and viewers who must identify with characters which is what we see in BIANCA by Keni Ogunlola. Image

A look at its first episode creates a relating atmosphere with its opening characters, its opening narrative of morning routines, its dramatic atmosphere of conflict, which begins later in the day and its suspense which allows the viewer a sit in the next episode which I can’t wait to watch.

The music which was by Bryan Mills; composer for BAFTA winning PITCH BLACK HEIST- , has an acousmatic concept (you can’t see the origin of the music) it is undeniably intriguing, you can’t keep your ears blank from the music, just to listen to the characters speak because both the music and the scenes have a notion to entice the viewer.

Is BIANCA our every day drama? Often times people say they know the end of a movie before it starts, either because of its genre “romantic comedy” or “action” but when a writer creates a story that happens on a daily basis, where people relate to characters and find themselves doing the same thing, can we really tell the end from the beginning?  The atmosphere to concentrate on a character or two, is what Keni Ogunlola has done; you are either a mother, wanting the safety of your child and your success or a teenager with emotional issues whose father has no job.

BIANCA’s characters, are likened to you and I; Bianca is the working woman, with a success target . Ugo is a man who wants a job to keep his head up as the man in the house and Adama is the teenage girl who has come of age and now has emotional and romantic concerns- how do they cope? What will happen in the next episode? Does this series have like every series a happy ending with no lesson? How is the conflict resolved? Is there something different about a Nigerian UK based mini drama series?

I will give my critic after the final episode but you can watch it by visiting
