Using Social Media To Your Vantage

The next best thing after smart phones, have been social media. Don’t we all know that by now? But how many of us make it work for us? With the numerous social sites and the billions of people registering with them, one would imagine that those billions or even millions would know how best to use the social media networks to their advantage and with the growth of twitter, facebook, Snapchat, myspace, pinterest, instagram and so on,  which has made it effortless for individuals, no matter the distance, time difference or race to access one another, thus enabling the pleasures of business marketing and relationship development, an unfortunate turn could come as simple as onei nvolving oneself in the different social media platforms without defining one’ intention for swimming with other fishes.

Social media, has its ups and its downs – it has its positives and negatives which could affect one personally and professionally. With the invent of smart phones, ipads and laptops, and the easy access to various media sites, the buzz on how one can use it to their advantage seems unutilized over and over again as many have failed to promote themselves for a better good.

For instance, various social mediums and its privacy settings allows one a function to disengage and engage at will, and this has been effective, as many have come to realize that even their presence on various platforms play a huge role in their day to day dealings which many companies who seek to employ or partner with some individuals also get interested in what their social life entails.

Many businesses, such as fashion wears and magazines went upbeat as a result of its exposure in social mediums, however this created a competitive ground for them, as many blog spheres grew.

Bloggers and Magazine businesses, even advertising companies which no doubt has also made many a writer, an editor and a critic has been embraced by a multifold, for various art depictions such as food, fashion, lifestyle and politics and this no doubt, makes it beautiful that social media does exist. The ups of having a published journal on the internet are that you get noticed and you can monetize it, the low of it however, is that you have a huge competition.

Having a large amount of followers regardless of what profession you practice, is always a good thing. Using the twitter, LinkedIn, and so on which provides a brief bio of whom you are, allows you to have more connections who are interested in what you have to say. It also helps when you do not have to follow anyone who will not improve your profession or promote the life you wish to have or the legacy hope to live behind.

Unfortunately though, social networks such as Instagram, facebook and keek have brought about social problems which to some extent has affected relationships which at one time were said to have held on for so long before the public display on social media and this is because of the expectations conciously or unconciously involved in wanting to paint a perfect picture which was also influenced by social media. Some have blamed the social mediums and have concluded that those relationships have been built with lies when in fact, those relationships have taken the wrong turns.

Social media sites where the status of our relationships can be seen come with options which allows individuals to choose to showcase whatever it is they need to show and tell. However, many have been known to tell the issues they have in their relationships, they have been known to showcase the status “complicated” and have been known to verify the fact that they are involved with others saying “in an open relationship” as though social media was created for that.

Registering with social mediums, and being involved on IM messengers can a play a good and a bad role for you.  You could promote your talent, become a blogger, engage and disengage with individuals who would promote and appreciate you, you could even highlight your relationship status and keep it that way no matter what happens, you could use a loved one’s picture on your display box and not reply to those who seek to find who the mysterious or not so mysterious person is to you, it really is up to you.

Using the social medium to your advantage will serve you better when you begin to use it wisely. Kindly refer to this article “Take Your Business With You: Networking” for other ideas.
