FGM Poetry

jilted

Dice, dice my labia fell off
Scream, scream all I knew for days
Bleeding through my every visit to the loo
My vagina, given an inch centimeter to be called a woman
In the name of tradition passed down for years
Several years of pain,
Many years of hatred
Hunted by the executioner,
The belief and the blade
Constant anger over my kinsman and tradition,
A tradition I call misplaced
One I say must come to order.
